Broncos Head to Seattle to Face Redhawks, Huskies

BOISE, Idaho - The Broncos will travel to Seattle to face the Seattle U Redhawks Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. MT and the Washington Huskies Sept. 1 at 3 p.m. MT.

Fans can watch a live video stream against Seattle U here. The matchup against Washington will be televised regionally on the Pac-12 Networks. There will also be a rebroadcast Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 11 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 national network.

Familiar Territory: The Bronco soccer coaching staff has ties to the Pacific Northwest. Head coach Jim Thomas was an assistant coach at Washington last season. Assistant coach Ed Moore makes his return to Seattle U, where he served as an assistant coach on the men's team. Also, assistant coach Madison Collins returns to face her former collegiate team. Collins graduated from Seattle U in 2009.

Like Boise State, Seattle U is 1-1 going into Friday's matchup. The Redhawks dropped their season opener, 3-1, at home against Washington State. Seattle U's Julia Besagno scored the lone goal off a penalty kick in the first half. Last Sunday, the Redhawks earned a 2-0 victory over Eastern Washington. Captain strikers Stephanie Verdoia and Julia Moravec each scored in the contest.

The Broncos last faced the Redhawks on Oct. 2, 2011. Boise State won 2-0, and Maddy McDevitt made nine saves and earned the shutout. Seattle U outshot Boise State 27-2 in the contest. Current Broncos Mikhaila Bowden and Katy Oehring each tallied an assist in that game.

The Broncos and Redhawks split the all-time series 2-2-0. Boise State has won the last two games against Seattle.

Washington is 1-1 over the weekend, dropping their opener against UCF, 3-0. Junior Jaclyn Softli scored the game-winning goal against North Carolina-Greensboro off a header in the second-overtime period, winning 1-0. The Huskies will host Baylor on Aug. 30 before the contest against Boise State.

2013 marks the first Boise State - Washington matchup, and the first televised game of the season for the Broncos. Boise State will have one more televised game this season, against Arizona State, Sept. 20.
