Heidemann Named Offensive Player of the Week

Aug 26, 2013

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Boise State sophomore midfielder Brooke Heidemann has been named Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 26-Sept. 1, the conference announced Monday.

Heidemann, a sophomore from Meridian, Idaho, scored the first Bronco goal of the 2013 season against Idaho State last Friday. Two days later, she turned around and netted the game-winning goal against Creighton, preventing the Broncos from another game sent to overtime.

The sophomore found the back of the net twice last season, and has already tied that mark in the first two games of 2013. Heidemann has taken five shots with four on goal, for a staggering 80 percent accuracy.

This is the first player of the week honor for Heidemann and the first offensive player of the week for Boise State since Shannon Schueren in 2011.

Utah State's Jeannie Woller earned Defensive Player of the Week honors, making five saves and earning a shutout against Creighton.

The Broncos (1-1) will head to Seattle for its next match against the Seattle U Redhawks (1-1) Friday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. MT.
