Broncos Head to Idaho State to Open 2013 Season

BOISE, Idaho - The Broncos head to Pocatello, Idaho to take on the Idaho State Bengals, today. The Bengals are the defending Big Sky champions and return seven starters from the 2012 season.

The in-state foes are tied 7-7-1 in the all-time series, but the Broncos have won the past four of five matchups. The Bengals came to Boise last season and the Broncos edged out the win in overtime on a penalty kick from Shannon Schueren.

• Last Time: Boise State played Idaho State in the Bronco Invitational last season, earning a win over the Bengals in Boise, 3-2. The two teams were tied 2-2 going into overtime, when Shannon Schueren scored on a penalty kick to earn the win.

• The Series: The Broncos have won the past four of five matchups against the Bengals, with the last Idaho State victory coming in 2010 in overtime.

• Last Time: 2013 marks the second matchup against Creighton. Boise State travelled to Omaha, Neb., in 2011. The Jays shutout the Broncos, 2-0. Current Broncos Mikhaila Bowden, Tylyn Hughes, Gabby Garcia and Katy Oehring all started in the matchup.
