Boise State Soccer Falls 1-0 in Season Opener to Seattle Redhawks?
SEATTLE, Wash. (8/21/2009) - Boise State opened the 2009 campaign on the road at Seattle University where it lost 1-0 Friday evening at SU's Championship Field in Seattle, Wash. Scoring opportunities were few for the Broncos who were outshot 11-to-two in shots on goal. Seattle's Jamie Peterson chipped a shot over the top of the Bronco defense in the 30th minute that beat the keeper to the far post recording the game-winning goal.

Sophomore Liz Ruiz started in goal for Boise State where she recorded a career high 10 saves. Senior Kaylea Perenon led the team with three shots, all off goal. 

Freshmen Adrienne Lommasson, Lauren Hickok, and Maureen Fitzgerald all earned their first career starts today, while classmates Taylor Thompson and Erica Parks came in off the bench for their first action as Broncos. Fitzgerald and Parks recorded Boise State's two shots on goal to lead the Broncos.

The loss gives Boise State a 0-1-0 start to the new season. The Broncos continue their weekend road trip Sunday afternoon with a 1:45 p.m. (Mountain) encounter at Portland State in Beaverton, Ore., the second of four straight road contests to open the season.
