BOISE, Idaho (8/19/06) The Boise State Broncos handed cross valley rival Northwest Nazarene a 7-0 defeat in a preseason scrimmage held at the Boise State Soccer Stadium in Boise Saturday afternoon. Six different Broncos scored during a match that saw Boise State dominate tempo and force the action into the Crusader defensive half for the majority of the contest. Both teams were allowed unlimited substitutions while they squared off in three 30 minute periods.
Kristin Hall, a senior from Boise’s Timberline High, put the Broncos on the scoreboard early with a 12-yard shot into the lower right corner of goal after beating the NNU keeper in the sixth minute.
Up by one, senior Annie Tom extended the Boise State advantage to two goals in the 26th minute. The Honolulu native ran onto a through ball, beat one defender at the top of the 18-yard box then scored from 17 yards out on a bending shot from the right side. The first period ended with Boise State up 2-0.
Seven minutes into the second period NNU’s Carlee Stinton had the best Crusader scoring opportunity. She drove down field and sent a high arching shot over Boise State’s Michaela Morrison in goal only to see the ball strike the crossbar and deflect over the goal.
In the 51st minute of the game the Broncos struck again to claim a three goal advantage. Freshman Kaylea Perenon raced down the right flank past the defense then launched a rocket from 27 yards out that beat the Crusader’s keeper, Amanda Merrell, to the far post. Boise State took the three goal lead into the second intermission.

Samantha Gambala, a junior striker, sparked the Broncos in the final stanza. The forward from Oxnard, California started the period and responded with two goals in a time span of 1:17 to open the final 30 minutes. The first score saw Gambala volley in a rebound off the NNU goalkeeper after Boise State freshman Sabrena Schwinn (Eagle, Idaho) shot from 16 yards out on the right flank.
The second Gambala strike came with three minutes gone in the third period. This time sophomore Emma Boyack sent a through ball into the NNU box that Gambala ran onto. The junior striker then fired a hard shot down the middle into goal from 10 yards out for her second goal of the day.
The sixth Boise State strike came in the 77th minute of the match. Danielle Schwalbe, a freshman from Boise’s Borah High School, ran onto a pass from junior Erin Wofford. Schwalbe took the ball down the middle and sent a bullet into the goal from 17 yards out.

Boise State’s Randi Baker charged down the right flank in the 87th minute and lobbed a cross into the middle just outside the Crusader 18-yard box.
