Steve Lucas, Boise State's head soccer coach, announced today the signing of Ashley Hruby from Vancouver, Wash., and Kati Lucas from Richland, Wash., to National Letters of Intent to play for Boise State next fall. Hruby and Lucas will be joining Gabriella Garcia, Mackenzie Hickel, Tylyn Hughes, Maddy McDevitt, Kallie Neimann, Katy Oehring and Rebe Wolverton to the 2010 recruiting class.
Coach Lucas feels positive about the two additions to the 2010 class, "Even though they came along late in the process, Kati and Ashley will add depth to our offense. We're excited to add them to the class." The Broncos hope to improve upon their historic 2009 season that included a WAC Championship and first NCAA tournament appearance.
Hruby is currently a senior at Union High School in Vancouver, Wash. At UHS, Hruby earned three straight first-team all-league honors and was honorable mention all-state her senior year. She played forward and midfield for FC Portland under Coach John Wallace. In addition, Hruby was a member of the Oregon Olympic Development Team (ODP) for three years. Hruby plans to major in business administration while at Boise State.
Lucas is a transfer from Walla Walla Community College where she played for head coach Chad Bodner. A product of Richland High School, Lucas earned first-team all-league honors two consecutive years while leading the Bombers to four-straight district and regional championships. During her two seasons at WWCC, Lucas recorded 46 goals and 25 assists. Lucas was a dominant force and helped her team win the 2009 NWAACC Championship. She also earned two consecutive NWAACC All-Conference honors. Lucas plans to major in pre-med while at Boise State.
