BOISE, Idaho - Boise State women's soccer head coach Steve Lucas announced, Thursday, Kelsey Nicassio of Alta Loma, Calif., signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Broncos. Nicassio is currently in her senior season as a defender at Los Osos High School.

"Kelsey played with one of our current players (rising sophomore Mikhaila Bowden) so that is cool to have a connection there and they should fit in well on the field together," Lucas said. "She has played with a great club team and played in some huge games and that will carry over to when she is playing for us."

Nicassio is a three-year starter at Los Osos, a school that has won four-consecutive Baseline League Championships under head coach Mychal Armstrong.

Nicassio was on the SoCal Blues club team that won last year's Far West Region IV Championship. She also has experience in the Olympic Development Program with Camp Coco Beach (Florida) in 2008.

Nicassio comes to the Broncos as a three-time scholar athlete and plans to pursue a degree in physical therapy.

"I chose Boise State because of the big school atmosphere in a small town environment and also because (the coaches) made me feel like Boise State was my home away from home," Nicassio said.
