ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The No. 3-seeded Boise State Broncos won 3-0 over the No. 7-seeded Wyoming Cowgirls in the quarterfinal round of the Mountain West Tournament. The Broncos scored three goals off corner kicks to advance to the semifinal round against No. 2-seeded Fresno State.

Boise State started attacking from the first kick off, and quickly earned a corner. Junior Mikhaila Bowden took the kick, and senior Katy Oehring connected with her head and placed the ball into the back of the net in the 3rd minute for the 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Brooke Heidemann found the second goal of the game in the 43rd minute. Bowden took the sixth corner in the half, and junior Shannon Schueren passed the ball into the 6-yard box. Heidemann hit the roof to ensure the Bronco goal and the 2-0 lead. The Broncos took six corner kicks in the first half, equaling their season high set against North Dakota on Sept. 15.

Bowden took two more corners in the second half. On the eighth corner, Bowden found Oehring again, and Oehring connected with her head to the far post, out of the reach of the Wyoming keeper in the 68th minute. Oehring tallied her third and fourth goals of the season. The Broncos recorded three shots on goal in the game, all for goals.

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Maddy McDevitt recorded her eighth shutout of the season. The Edmonds, Wash., native has bettered her single-season shutout record with eight plus a combined shutout. The 3-0 win marks the first match with three Bronco goals as well and a shutout since Colorado State on Oct. 20.

"We were really impressed with Wyoming's ability to come back after twenty-four hours and put together such a spirited performance,” said head coach Jim Thomas. “They had a lot of dangerous plays and it did cause us some problems, but we've prepared for this, we've worked very, very hard since January of this year for these kind of moments and we definitely rose to the occasion."

The Broncos will prepare for No. 2-seeded Fresno State. The Broncos fell 2-1 to the Bulldogs on the road on Oct. 13. The match will be Thursday, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m.
