BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's soccer team fell 1-0 to the San Diego State Aztecs this afternoon at home. Despite playing a strong, tough game, the Broncos allowed a goal in the 81st minute.

The Broncos started the game with lots of intensity, instantly attacking and pressuring the Aztec back line. As the first half progressed, both teams played a tight game in the midfield. The Broncos found many opportunities to get the ball to its front line but couldn't pull the ball down on frame. The first half remained scoreless, with both Boise State and San Diego State each having one shot on goal.

Boise State came out in the second half with even more fervor. Redshirt freshman Kayla Tucker fed many balls into the box, but the Broncos couldn't find the goal. Senior Katy Oehring had an outstanding shot on goal in the second half, but the Aztec keeper wrapped up the shot.

The Aztecs scored in the 81st minute, and the Broncos responded with even more pressure. Boise State played the final nine minutes attacking and seeking the equalizer, but couldn't find the back of the net.

"I was really proud of how hard we worked today," said head coach Jim Thomas. "San Diego State is a good team, and whenever a team is talented and on a hot streak you have to play very well in order to get a victory against them. I thought at times we had great moments in the game and at times they had great moments in the game. We broke down for a moment when we were trying to get some guys rest and we couldn't sub them out quite quick enough. That gave San Diego State a little more space than what they were used to in the half which gave them the goal. Our response to the goal was great and we continued to try to find an opportunity to score, but we were unlucky not to get a goal in the end."

The Broncos will return on Sunday, Oct. 27 at noon for senior night against New Mexico. Boise State will welcome Air Force for a rescheduled game on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 11 a.m.
