Sept. 27, 2013

LAS VEGAS - The Boise State Broncos fell to the UNLV Rebels, 2-1 tonight. Both teams came into the contest with equal 5-3-2 records, sharing the top of the Mountain West. The Broncos maintained the majority of possession and outshot the Rebels 13-5 despite the final score. Sophomore Brooke Heidemann netted the only Boise State goal, and her sixth goal of the season.

The Rebels got an early lead on a counterattack. Magnin caught junior goalkeeper Maddy McDevitt off-guard with a low shot to the bottom left corner from 30 yards out. The UNLV Rebels finished the first half with a 1-0 lead.

The Broncos started the second half strong, completing passes to keep possession and to advance the attack. Junior Mikhaila Bowden anchored the back line, cleaning up the Rebels' offensive attempts.

Redshirt sophomore KT Clayton sent in a low ball to the box and found Heidemann for the equalizer in the 84th minute. The Rebels responded one minute later and scored the game-winner off a rebound.

The Broncos head to face the Nevada Wolfpack on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. MT.
