POCATELLO, Idaho - The Boise State women's soccer team travelled to Pocatello, Idaho to take on in-state foe Idaho State. Both teams weathered the elements, including rain, hail and a lightning delay, but the game continued on in true rivalrous fashion.

Both teams played a defensive game in the first half, with neither team finding the back of the net. There was about a 45-minute game delay before the second half due to lightning.

Before halftime, the score was 0-0 with senior Ashley Hruby and redshirt freshman Kayla Tucker each taking a shot on goal.

Idaho State's Madeline Gochnour netted the first goal of the game in the 70th minute. Sophomore Brooke Heidemann responded four minutes later with a goal of her own off a cross from Tucker.

"We felt invigorated after Idaho State scored," said head coach Jim Thomas. "We came out strong at kickoff. Kayla Tucker beat her defender and crossed the ball into the box, and Brooke Heidemann broke off her midfield line, caught the defenders napping and ended up scoring from about five yards out."

Boise State dominated the majority of the game, notching 18 shots and 8 shots on goal compared to Idaho State's seven shots and three shots on goal.

The game finished tied at 1-1 in regulation, sending the game to overtime. Idaho State ended the game in the 97th minute with a goal off a rebound in the box.

Senior Katy Oehring led the team in shots, taking five of the team's 18.

"I think we played very well," said Thomas. "We had a high volume of shots from different ranges. We played with a good, high tempo and connected well at times which were a focus for us in the preseason. Idaho State deserves a lot of credit, they are a hard team to break down. The difference in the game came to set pieces and corner kicks."

The Broncos return for their home opener this Sunday against Creighton at 12 p.m.
