Broncos Stay Unbeaten After First Weekend
BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State women's soccer finished the Holiday Inn Classic with a strong offensive showing as it defeated North Dakota State 4-1 at the Boas Tennis and Soccer Complex, Sunday.

The Broncos are 2-0-0 this season, winning their opening two games for the first time since the 2008 season when they defeated Northwest Nazarene and Eastern Washington at home.

Katy Oehring got things started in the 13th minute, striking a low driving free kick just past the near post from 20 yards out. The goal marked the fourth of her career.

After the goal, both teams played the remainder of the first half by controlling possession in the midfield.

The Broncos snapped out of that spell and found an offensive spark in the second half, scoring three goals in less than 11 minutes.

Freshman Anna Popma was welcomed to Boise by a roar of the crowd after she scored the first goal of her career and one that would eventually be scored as the game-winner in the 71st minute. Popma made herself available in the five yards out in the middle of the box, and volleyed home a cross from senior Lauren Hickok.

Hickok would later score a goal in the 82nd minute that was set up by Ashley Hruby's long ball over the Bison defense. While the NDSU defenders were looking for an offside call as Hickock continued on to score past Katie McCormick, the Bison goalkeeper.

Shannon Schueren was in on the action as well, scoring her goal in the 74th minute. The sophomore gathered a pass from Mandy Nader and took a shot from 35 yards that bounced over McCormick and into the goal.

The Broncos ended the game with a 21-5 shots advantage and a 6-0 corner kicks advantage.

The four goals were the most the Broncos have scored in a game since Oct. 8, 2010 when they netted six against Hawai'i.

Boise State will play Washington State at Pullman, Friday, Aug. 24 before going to Gonzaga, Sunday, Aug. 26.
