AT BOISE STATE (Since 2008 - Eric Simmonsen enters his fourth season as volunteer assistant coach at Boise State. Simmonsen comes to the Bronco program continuing on his 19+ years of coaching in the Boise metro area soccer scene.
PRIOR TO BOISE STATE - Simmonsen has worked with several local youth clubs in various capacities ranging from director of coaching and player development, technical director, technical staff to team head coach.
Simmonsen is currently a director with FC Nova Soccer Club in Boise. Other organizations he has worked with are the Boise Capitals Soccer Club, CYSA (Now Idaho Rush), Boise Alliance Soccer Club, IYSA and Region IV Olympic Development Program's staff coach and instructor along with a stint at Timberline High School as girls varsity head coach from 1999-2002.
While at Timberline he was able to lead the Wolves girls varsity teams to an overall program record of 78 wins, 6 losses and 9 ties. In that period Timberline never lost a home match. Along with the program record THS amassed three Southern Idaho Conference regular season and two 5A District III championships, and one state championship. Three straight years THS was ranked in the top 25 in NSCAA National Polls. Adding to the hardware were the three Gatorade State Player of the Year awards, SIC District III and 5A "Coach of the Year" Awards, and every year THS was awarded SIC All Academic Team honors with an average team GPA of 3.8 or higher. During that time 25 female student-athletes were awarded all-conference first or second team honors.
Overall, Simmonsen has had a total of 16 former players compete for Boise State. He currently holds the three highest United States coaching certifications; United States Soccer Federation "A" and "Youth" licenses, along with National Soccer Coaches Association of America "Premier" diploma.
PERSONAL - He is a 1999 graduate of Boise State with a bachelors degree in criminal justice administration - counseling and corrections. Eric and his wife, Erica, have one daughter, Cooper Jean (8) and one son, Parker (6) and live in Meridian.
