Boise State Selected as Championship Favorite in Preseason Poll

CEDAR CITY, Utah - Boise State has been selected as the favorite by the coaches in the first ever Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship preseason poll, garnering 15 points and three first place votes. The University of Denver was close behind in second place with 13 points and the remaining two first-place votes.

Boise State captured the final Western Athletic Conference gymnastics championship last year and return the 2013 WAC Freshman of the Year in Maddie Krentz, as well as Kelsey Black, a senior who picked up three first-team All-WAC citations last year for her performances on vault, floor and in the all-around. The Broncos also return a pair of second-team All-WAC honorees in Kelsey Morris (UB, AA) and Ciera Perkins (VT). Boise State is coached by co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick, both in their seventh year, with an overall mark of 113-37.

Southern Utah finished third in the poll with 11 points, while Brigham Young followed in the poll with seven points, and Utah State rounded out the poll with four points

The 2014 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship season will begin on Jan. 11 with the championship meet scheduled for March 22 on the campus of Brigham Young University.
