Boise State Favored in 2009 WAC Preseason Gymnastics Coaches Poll

DENVER - The Western Athletic Conference announced its 2009 preseason gymnastics coaches' poll, as voted on by the six head coaches in the league. Boise State was selected as the favorite to win this year's WAC title, earning the top spot with 23 points.


Boise State, the 2008 WAC champion, received three first place votes for its 23-point total. Southern Utah also garnered three first place votes, but ended up just one point short of the Broncos with 22 points. San Jose State captured the third spot with 16 points. Cal State Fullerton and Utah State tied for the fourth position with 10 points each, followed by Sacramento State in sixth with nine points.


The 2009 Western Athletic Conference gymnastics championship will take place at Hornet Gym in Sacramento, Calif. on Saturday, March 21.
