Bronco Gymnastics Heads Into Season Ranked

BOISE, Idaho Boise State University gymnastics head coach Sam Sandmire expects the Broncos to have a great season. Her peers agree.

The Broncos are ranked No. 25 in the 2007 women’s preseason coaches’ poll, their highest such ranking in Sandmire’s 20 year coaching career at Boise State.

“While polls are merely predictions and the proof is in the actual performance, we are excited that the college coaches recognize that Boise State gymnastics will be competitive,” Sandmire said. “I believe the addition of Neil and Patty Resnick to our coaching staff has helped our program earn more respect. The Resnicks are already making a huge positive impact in our gym.”

Boise State received 51 points in the poll, and is the only Western Athletic Conference school on the list. Georgia, ranked No. 1 in the poll, received 793 votes.

Last year the Broncos finished second at the WAC Championships en route to their 20th consecutive appearance at the NCAA Regional Championships. The highest a Bronco team has ever finished the season was 14th in 1997.

The Broncos open their season Jan. 12, hosting a meet in Reno, Nev., with Cal State Fullerton.
