Broncos Sign Jacobsen and Krentz to 2012-13 NLI's

BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State gymnastics program and co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick are excited to announce the signing of two highly accomplished and talented gymnasts to their 2012-13 roster.  The Broncos welcome Krystine Jacobsen of Norfolk, Va., and Maddie Krentz of Phoenix, Ariz., to the program.

"We are so excited to sign two gymnasts with such high level backgrounds," explained Bird. "Maddie Krentz has an exciting resume of complicated skills that will help take us to the next level.  Krystine Jacobsen has major competition experience and elegant lines in her gymnastics.  Both gymnasts will make an immediate impact in our program."

Jacobsen comes to Boise from the Excalibur Gymnastics Club in Virginia Beach, Va., where she was very successful as a member of numerous elite and TOPS teams in her career. In 2004 she was a member of the TOPs National B Team, while moving up to the TOPS National A Team in 2005. In 2006 she was a member of the US Challenge Hopes Elite team, as well as a 2008 and 2009 junior international elite competitor.  In her Junior Olympic career, she placed 17th in the all-around in 2007, while also placing sixth on bars in 2011 in the Level 10 competition. In 2008 she was a state champion on vault and floor, going on to place second at the regional meet in the all-around and on bars.

Krentz, who hails from the Arizona Sunrays club team in Phoenix, is also a well decorated gymnast including the 2010 honors of Arizona State Athlete of the Year and Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup Competitor. She also boasts numerous top-10 Junior Olympic Level 10 national, regional and state finishes. In 2009 she was a fourth-place finisher on vault at regionals, going on to tie for third-place in 2010. She also placed sixth on bars, tied for sixth on floor and was seventh in the all-around at the 2010 regional meet. At the 2010 Junior Olympic national meet she earned a tie for seventh on bars, a tie for ninth on floor and was 20 th in the all-around. She also earned the 2010 Arizona state title on vault, as well as placing third in the all-around. In her earlier career, she was a 2000 and 2001 National TOPS Diamond Team member.

The pair will join 12 returning Broncos from the 2011-12 roster, including four seniors, four juniors and four sophomores.
