BOISE, Idaho - The Boise State gymnastics program and co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick are pleased to announce the signing of Molly McFarland (Costa Mesa, Calif.) to a National Letter of Intent for the 2012-13 season. McFarland signed her letter of intent earlier this week.

"We are super excited to add Molly to our roster," said Bird. "She is an excellent gymnast, an excellent student and is sure to help our team reach its goals."

McFarland comes to Boise State as an all-around competitor from Team OC Gymnastics in Costa Mesa, Calif., where she competed as a Level 10 gymnast. Most recently she competed at the 2012 Junior Olympic (J.O.) National Championships where she garnered a 13 th-place finish in the all-around. She also earned a sixth-place finish at the 2012 regional and a fourth-place finish at the 2012 SoCal State Championships in the all-around. In 2011 she was the J.O. National Invitational Tournament (NIT) 10th-place finisher in the all-around, while gathering second-place finishes on vault and floor. One year earlier she was the NIT runner-up in the all-around, as well as national champion on bars.

Along with a decorated gymnastics career, McFarland boasts a solid high school resume' as an Honor Roll member, the 2007 Norman Stillwell Award winner, the 2011 Daughters of the American Revolution Award winner and the U.S. Marine Distinguished Athlete Award winner.  Outside of gymnastics, McFarland also competed in swimming and water polo for Estancia High School.

"Molly will bring great character and work ethic, as well as many high level skills to our team," said Resnick.

McFarland joins Krystine Jacobsen and Maddie Krentz, who signed NLI's in the fall of 2011, as freshmen on the Boise State gymnastics 2012-13 roster.
