June 10, 2016

LOGAN, Utah – The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference (MRGC) announced the academic all-conference honorees Friday afternoon and all 15 Boise State gymnastics athletes were named to the list. The 15 honors were the most for any team in the conference, followed by Southern Utah with 12, Utah State with 10 and BYU with nine.

The MRGC and its academic all-conference list is now in its second year of existence after the league was officially recognized as a conference by the NCAA prior to the 2015 season. To be eligible for the award a student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA from the 2015-16 academic year and have appeared on the squad list for the 2016 season.

Five student-athletes achieved GPA’s of 3.9 or higher; sophomore Ann Stockwell (3.97, Kinesiology), sophomore Lianne Josbacher (3.96, English), sophomore Abby Webb (3.94, Biology), freshman Shani Remme (3.91, Kinesiology) and junior Paige Urquhart (3.9, Biology).

Freshman Sarah Means (3.86, Mathematics), sophomore Sandra Collantes (3.82, Psychology) and junior Diana Mejia (3.8, Health Science Studies) attained GPA’s of 3.8 or higher.

The other seven Boise State gymnasts to receive the MRGC recognition included sophomore Alex Esmerian (3.78, Health Science Studies), senior Molly McFarland (3.75, Exercise Science), senior Marissa Wossner (3.72, Exercise Science), junior Mary Frances Bir (3.63, Health Science Studies), senior Maddie Krentz (3.62, Mechanical Engineering), senior Krystine Jacobsen (3.61, Communication) and junior Mackenzie Bennion (3.45, Criminal Justice).

The 2015 and 2016 MRGC Champions just recently finished with a spring semester team GPA of 3.74, which ties the athletic department record.
