BOISE, Idaho Bronco head coach Sam Sandmire will be looking for her sixth career conference title, and her first since 2004, when she leads Boise State University to the 2007 Western Athletic Conference Gymnastics Championships, Saturday, at 6:00 p.m.

In her 20 years as head coach, Sandmire accumulated three Big West Conference championships (1997, 1999 and 2000) and two Western Gymnastics Conference championships (2003 and 2004). In her final season as head coach, Sandmire will be looking for her first title in the WAC at The Centrum at Cedar City, Utah.

According to regional qualifying score (RQS), the Broncos currently rank fifth of six teams in the conference. Though Boise State has a record of 6-12 overall and 1-7 in the conference, Sandmire believes that her team should make some serious noise.

“This is a brand new season and every team in the WAC has an opportunity to win,” Sandmire said. “The teams are fairly evenly matched, so whichever team hits all four events has a chance at the trophy. We've had a lot of adversity to overcome this year, but we are capable and when we do that, we'll be tough to beat.”

Tickets - Ticket prices are $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and $3.00 for children under 12 years old. All seats are general admission. Tickets can be purchased at the Centrum Ticket Office, located on 800 West between University Blvd. and 200 South.  Ticket Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets may also be purchased over the phone by calling (435) 586-7872.

RQS Watch Boise State improved its regional qualifying score (RQS) from last week, jumping from 192.335 to 192.535, though remained at No. 47 in the national GymInfo poll for the second consecutive week. The Broncos also remained in eighth place in the West region for the second consecutive week.

Last Time Out Led by wins on three of four events, March 23, at the Taco Bell Arena, the Boise State University gymnastics team gave head coach Sam Sandmire something to remember in what was the final home meet of her career.

Though the Aggies of Utah State University were able to leave with a win (194.775-192.725), the Broncos notched season bests in three events: 49.025 on vault, 49.050 on bars and 48.675 on floor.

Highlighting the Broncos’ season bests were a trio of 9.925s. Freshman DeAvera Todd scored 9.925 on both vault and bars, winning each event. Senior Kristin Aldrich posted a 9.925 of her own on floor, capturing the first title of her career on the event in the final home meet of her career.

WAC History At last year’s WAC Championships, the first since 1993, the Broncos recorded their best-ever finish (second) with a score of 193.775. Sacramento State won last year’s conference meet with a score of 193.950.

Sophomore Shaniece Craft returns to defend her 2006 WAC vault title (9.850). The only other individual WAC title in school history also came on vault, as Julie Wagner won in 1993 with one of only three 10.0s posted by a Bronco.
