Boise State to Host WAC Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, March 29

COMING UP:
The No. 16-ranked Boise State gymnastics team will host their final meet at Taco Bell Arena for the 2008 season. The Broncos play host to the 2008 Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, March 29 at 6 p.m. Boise State sits at the top of the WAC rankings and will host No. 24-ranked Southern Utah, No. 35-ranked San Jose State, No. 37-ranked Sacramento State, No. 40-ranked Utah State and No. 41-ranked Cal State Fullerton in the six-team conference competition.

TICKET INFORMATION:
Tickets for the Saturday, March 29th meet will be on sale, including tickets for: Adults - $8.00, Students - $5.00, and Children 12 and Under - $3.00. All seats are general admission. The ticket office and arena doors are scheduled to open at 4:30 p.m. with the meet beginning at 6 p.m.

The Western Athletic Conference, in conjunction with its Web site partner JumpTV Sports, has announced it will stream all our events simultaneously of the 2008 WAC Gymnastics Championships, Saturday, March 29. Viewers can sign up by visiting www.WAC.tv.

The championships will be held at Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho and begins at 6:00 p.m. (MT). Viewers will be able to select which event they want to watch as there will be streams available for the vault, uneven parallel bars, balance beam and floor exercise. The meet can be viewed for a subscription price of $10.95 that will include access to all four streams (only one viewable at a time) and on-demand viewing of any of the events beginning the next day.

LAST TIME OUT:
Boise State played host to No. 43-ranked California on Friday, March 21 in their final regular season home meet. The Broncos (13-3, 7-2 WAC) easily topped the Golden Bears even on a slow night for the blue and orange at Taco Bell Arena. Boise State posted their fifth best score of the season with a 195.40 win over Cal’s 192.700.

Boise State earned wins as a team on all four events, while also capturing victories as individuals on all four events and in the all-around. Senior Lindsay Ward captured titles on bars and beam, while freshman Hannah Redmon won on vault, floor, and in the all-around.

ABOUT THE BRONCOS:
Boise State improved one spot this week to the No. 16 ranking in the GymInfo.com national rankings. They enter this weekend’s competition with a 13-3 record and a 7-2 record against WAC foes. Their only two losses in WAC competition came from Southern Utah University who holds the No. 2 ranking in the WAC standings. Boise State has faced all five WAC opponents at least once this season.

The Broncos are again in the nation’s top-25 in all four events this week, ranking as high as No. 13 on bars (48.970 RQS). They also ranked 14th (49.030) on floor, No. 19 on vault (48.990) and No. 22 on beam (48.815). Individually the Broncos are lead by Hannah Redmon who is ranked in the top-100 in four of five categories. On vault she holds a tie for No. 17 (9.885) and is tied for No. 48 on bars (48.970). On floor Redmon is tied for No. 24 (9.875) while also holding the No. 41 spot in the all-around (39.070). Lindsay Ward holds two rankings, including: tied for No. 13 on bars (9.890) and tied for No. 39 on beam (9.850). Taylor Jacob holds a No. 18 (tied) ranking on bars (9.875), while Amy Glass (9.825) and Shaniece Craft (9.815) hold the No. 81 and No. 91 (tied) spots on vault. Sarah Smith rounds out the rankings for Boise State by tying for No. 77 on floor (9.825).

PROBABLE BRONCO LINE-UP BY EVENT:
VAULT: Now a seasoned veteran on vault, Hannah Redmon will lead a corps made up of Lindsay Ward, Shaniece Craft, Amy Glass, Amber Neroes, and Ruthie Pennington. Sophomore Yvette Leizorek may also see action on vault in place of another Bronco.

BARS: Truly a super senior, Ward will lead an excellent group on bars, including: Taylor Jacob, Mallory Dziawura, Redmon, Neroes, and Cassie Tycast.

BEAM: This week’s WAC Specialist of the Week on beam, Ward, will also lead the Broncos on beam. Jacob, Redmon and Glass are also likely to aid while Sarah Smith and Kelsey Lang will look to be solid contributors.

FLOOR: Redmon and Smith are probable leaders on floor again this week and will be looking for great contributions from Lang, Leizorek, Jacob, and Glass.

ALL AROUND: A five-time WAC Gymnast of the Week, Redmon will compete in the all-around for the Broncos.
