Mejia Named An All-American
March 26, 2017

BOISE, Idaho – The National Association of Collegiate Gymnastic Coaches/Women (NACGC/W) announced the 2017 regular season All-America list this weekend, and senior Diana Mejia was named a second-team All-America honoree on uneven bars. The honor comes on the heels of Mejia’s career-high 9.95 on the apparatus at the MRGC Championships to win the event and secure the team title for the Broncos.

The regular season All-America honors are awarded to the top 16 gymnasts in the four events and the all-around according to individual RQS. The top eight gymnasts receive first-team honors and Nos. 9-16 garner second-team accolades. The Vancouver, Wash., native ended the regular season with a 9.910 RQS, slotting her in a tie for 12th place.

Mejia has been a first-team All-MRGC honoree on bars in all four seasons, including a freshman campaign in 2014 where she was named MRGC Co-Freshman of the Year.

Her 11 career wins on uneven bars puts her at No. 8 on the Bronco all-time list on the event. Her six victories on bars this season is tied for the fourth-most single-season victories on the apparatus in school history.

Mejia is the fourth Bronco to earn All-America honors on bars. She joins Julie Wagner (1995), Ciera Perkins (2015) and Krystine Jacobsen (2016). In total, she is the ninth Boise State gymnast to attain All-America status.

The senior co-captain and the rest of the Broncos will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships next weekend in Lincoln, Neb., on Saturday, April 1 at 3 p.m. in the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
