BOISE, Idaho – The No. 15 Boise State gymnastics team learned their NCAA Regional fate on Monday afternoon when the NCAA announced that the Broncos will be competing at the Tuscaloosa Regional as the No. 3 seed on the campus of the University of Alabama. The regional will take place on Saturday, April 2 at 3 p.m. (MT).

No. 4 Alabama will be the No. 1 seed, and No. 10 California will be the No. 2 seed. Boise State will also be joined by No. 21 Kentucky (No. 4 seed), No. 26 West Virginia (No. 5 seed) and No. 34 Bowling Green (No. 6 seed).

The Broncos enter the regional with an RQS of 196.570. The regional selection is the ninth in a row for co-head coaches Tina Bird and Neil Resnick, having qualified in all nine years while at the helm. The highest the Broncos have ever placed at a regional meet was third, doing so during the 2009, 2011 and 2012 seasons. The 2011 season was their closest attempt at earning a top-two spot and advancing to the NCAA National meet, missing the second-place finish by only .025 of a point.

Last year Boise State took fourth at last year’s regional in Berkeley, Calif., scoring a 195.375. Other schools hosting regional meets this year include; Georgia (Athens Regional), Iowa (Iowa City Regional), Michigan (Ann Arbor Regional), Minnesota (Minneapolis Regional) and Utah (Salt Lake City Regional).

The top two teams and top two all-around competitors (who are not on an advancing team) from each regional will receive an automatic berth to the national meet which takes place on April 15-16 in Fort Worth, Texas, hosted by Texas Woman’s University and the Knight Eady Sports Group. The top two teams from Tuscaloosa, Salt Lake City and Iowa City will face off in one semifinal, while the top two teams from Minneapolis, Ann Arbor and Athens will face off in the other semifinal.

The annual Super Six, to determine the NCAA champion, will be held April 16.
