Hannah Redmon Notches Fifth WAC Gymnast of the Week Title

DENVER, Colo. Boise State’s Hannah Redmon has been named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week for the week of Mar. 10-16. With this award, Redmon has earned five WAC Gymnast of the Week awards this season.

Redmon, a freshman from Reno, Nev. (Reed HS) posted her highest all-around score of her career with a 39.375, which is the best all-around score posted by a Bronco and the highest WAC mark this season. Redmon tied her career high on both beam (9.750) and floor (9.900) while also posting marks of 9.875 on vault and 9.850 on bars to place second overall in the all-around at the Oregon State quadrangular last week. In the individual events competitions, she placed second overall on vault, tied for fourth on bars, tied for 13th on beam and tied for second on floor.

Utah State’s Jasmine Minion earned the WAC Specialist of the Week honor after recording a career-best 9.900 on floor last week at the Texas Woman’s quad meet. The mark tied her for first in the event and is Utah State’s first 9.900 on any event this season. Minion’s 9.900 is the second-best mark on floor in the WAC this season and ranks as the fourth-highest score on floor in USU history.

Other Gymnast of the Week nominees included: Cal State Fullerton freshman Alaina Baker finished second in the all-around last week as she topped the 38-point mark for the ninth time in 10 meets this season ... Sacramento State senior Melissa Genovese scored a season-high 38.950 in the all-around at the Salbasgeon Suites Invitational ... San Jose State junior Veronica Porte won the all-around at the California quadrangular with a 39.150 for her sixth all-around title of the season ... Southern Utah sophomore Elise Wheeler matched her season high with a 39.200 in the all-around against Iowa ... Utah State sophomore Heather Heinrich placed second in the all-around at the Texas Woman’s quad meet with a 38.875.

Other Specialist of the Week nominees included: Boise State senior Lindsay Ward earned her sixth win on bars this season with a 9.900 ... Cal State Fullerton freshman Maddie Steinauer took home individual honors on vault for the third time this season, scoring a 9.825 ... Sacramento State junior Marina Borisova had the highest individual finish of any Sacramento State gymnast last week as she tied for fourth on floor with a 9.875 ... San Jose State senior Emily Stebbins tied for first on floor at the California quadrangular meet with a season-best 9.900. She is one of seven gymnasts in SJSU history to score 9.900 on floor... Southern Utah freshman Shannon Coughlin recorded two-career high marks with a 9.800 on vault and a 9.875 on floor against Iowa last week.
