Hannah Redmon Earns First WAC Honor of Season, Named WAC Specialist of the Week

DENVER - Boise State gymnast Hannah Redmon has been named the Western Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week for the week of March 9-15.


Redmon, a sophomore from Sparks, Nev. (Reed HS) recorded a career-high 9.950 on vault, marking the fourth-best score in Boise State history. With her win on vault, Redmon has now earned her ninth career title on the event, which ranks fifth all-time in wins at BSU on the apparatus. Redmon also earned a 9.925 to tie her career high on floor and earned a 9.850 on bars to win her first career title on the event.


The honor was the first of the season for Redmon as well as her first career Specialist of the Week honor. She adds this week’s award to five WAC Gymnast of the Week awards she earned last season for six career weekly awards.


Southern Utah's Elise Wheeler was named Gymnast of the Week. The junior from San Diego, Calif. (Madison HS) broke the school record in the all-around with a 39.525 as she finished first in the event at Boise State. It was the third time this year that the junior has recorded one of the top five all-time marks in SUU history.


Other Specialist of the Week nominees included: Cal State Fullerton junior Katie Turcotte; Sacramento State senior Amber Basgall; Southern Utah junior Lindsey Schultz; and Utah State sophomore Nicole Simoneau.
