Broncos Close Out Regular Season at Utah State

The No. 23-ranked Boise State gymnastics team heads to its final regular season meet of 2013, traveling to Logan, Utah, to take on No. 55 Utah State, Friday, March 15. The Broncos (11-3, 3-2 WAC) will take on the Aggies (3-10, 0-6 WAC) at 7 p.m. MT at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on the campus of Utah State University.

The Broncos and Aggies will meet for the 85th time in series history on Friday with USU leading the all-time series 55-29 over Boise State. Boise State has won the last three meetings, however, including two this season.

Boise State holds strong at the No. 23 spot in this week's national rankings (according to Boise State holds an 11-3 record on the season, including a 3-2 record against Western Athletic Conference teams. They move to fourth this week in the NCAA West Region, and remain in second in the WAC, while holding a season-high score of 196.575.

The Broncos have an RQS of 195.665 this week, while also ranking tied for No. 18 on vault as a team (nationally) with an RQS of 49.120, tied for No. 15 on uneven bars (49.075), No. 38 on balance beam (48.545) and tied for No. 31 on floor exercise (49.005).

Individually five Broncos hold top-100 national rankings in their respective events. Brittany Potvin-Green holds three rankings, including tied for No. 52 on floor, tied for No. 79 on beam and tied for No. 91 on vault. Kelsey Black shares the No. 91 spot on vault with Potvin-Green, while also tying for No. 73 on bars and No. 66 on floor. Amanda Otuafi holds the highest rank of any Bronco, tying for No. 37 on vault, while Ciera Perkins enters the rankings on bars in a tie for No. 73. Caitlin Mann rounds out the ranked Broncos, sitting at No. 88 in the all-around this week.

Utah State enters the week ranked No. 55 in the country with an RQS of 193.195. The Aggies hold a 3-10 record on the season, including a 0-6 record against WAC teams, ranking sixth in the conference. They rank No. 45 in the country on vault as a team (48.685), No. 46 on bars (48.595), No. 51 on beam (48.240) and No. 61 on floor (48.112).

Individually two Aggies hold top-100 event rankings, including Sarah Landes who ranks No. 34 in the all-around and is tied for No. 93 on beam. Paige Jones joins Landes in the all-around rankings, sitting at No. 73 this week.

Both teams close out their regular season schedules on Friday, March 15, and will then prepare for the 2013 WAC Championship meet held in Cedar City, Utah, on Saturday, March 23.
