Kelsey Black

March 11, 2014

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State senior Kelsey Black was named the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Co-Specialist of the Week after earning a 9.90 on vault en route to an individual title on that event this past weekend. Black shares the title with Brigham Young’s Eliane Kulczyk who earned a 9.90 on floor. Kulczyk’s teammate Raquel Willman garnered MRGC Gymnast of the Week honors.

Black earns her second MRGC nod of the season after being named Specialist of the Week March 3.  She posted a 9.900 on vault to win her third-career title on the event, followed by top-three finishes on bars (9.825) and floor (9.850), respectively. The finishes helped the Broncos to a lopsided victory over Seattle Pacific, 196.550-193.350.

The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Championship is a gymnastics-specific alliance among five member schools: Brigham Young University, Boise State University, the University of Denver, Southern Utah University and Utah State University. The alliance is not a formally recognized conference by the NCAA, but is in the process of gaining said status for the 2014-15 season.
