Remme Leads No. 14 Broncos with MRGC Weekly Honors
Feb. 26, 2018

BOISE, Idaho – Junior Shani Remme earned her sixth MRGC Gymnast of the Week honor, along with her fourth MRGC Beam Specialist of the Week honor as Boise State ranks No. 14 nationally in the first RQS of the season.

The Broncos have swept MRGC Gymnast of the Week honors all season, with Remme winning six of the seven awards. The only other Bronco to win the award was sophomore Courtney McGregor last week. Remme took home this week’s honor after winning the all-around competition in the dual meet at BYU with a score of 49.450.

Remme then earned her fourth Beam Specialist of the Week honor after tying her career-high mark on the event with a score of 9.925 to win the beam title against BYU.

This week’s weekly rankings feature the first Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of the season and the Broncos currently sit 14th nationally with a team score of 196.255. The RQS is calculated by taking the team’s top six scores from the season, of which at least three must have been scored on the road, removing the high score and averaging the rest. This score determines which 36 teams advance to the regional championships, which is the first elimination round in the NCAA gymnastics postseason.

The Broncos return home this week for their final home meet of the season, hosting Sacramento State in the senior meet on Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. MT at Taco Bell Arena.
