Broncos Fall to No. 8 Oregon State on the Road

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 16-ranked Boise State gymnastics team headed west this weekend to take on No. 8 Oregon State Friday (Feb. 24) evening, falling 196.875-195.375. The Broncos move to 6-4 on the season and 3-2 against top-25 ranked opponents. Oregon State remains undefeated with a 8-0-1 record to date.

The Broncos opened up the night on uneven bars, scoring a 49.075 as a team. Brittany Potvin-Green led the way for Boise State, scoring a season-high of 9.875 and tying for third-place. Amy Glass finished just behind in fifth, also earning a season-high of 9.850. Ciera Perkins tied for sixth (9.80), while Lindsay Kazandjian and Kelsey Morris tied for eighth (9.775). Kelsey Black rounded out the line-up with a 9.70 score and an 11th-place finish.

In rotation two, the Broncos worked to a score of 49.10, just .10 behind OSU's vault score. Perkins and Glass led the team this time earning 9.850 scores. Amanda Otuafi tied for fifth (9.825) and Morris tied for eighth (9.80). Potvin-Green earned a 9.775 to place 10 th, while Black was 12th with a 9.70.

Moving to the third rotation, Perkins again led the team tying for third on floor exercise after earning a career-best of 9.875. Morris and Otuafi tied for fifth (9.80), while Potvin-Green (9.725 ) was ninth and Black was 10 th (9.650). The Broncos totaled a 48.850 score on the event, competing only five in the line-up.

In their final event, the Broncos earned a 48.350 score on balance beam. Kazandjian, Otuafi and Erin Wippermann joined to lead the team, each earning 9.725 scores, as well as career-bests for Otuafi and Wippermann. Morris was next for the Broncos, placing 10 th (9.650) and Caitlin Mann (9.525) and Potvin-Green (9.10) rounded out the 11th and 12th-place spots, respectively.

Morris competed in her first all-around competition of the season, earning a 39.025 score and placing fifth. Potvin-Green earned a 38.475 total, good for sixth-place.

OSU's Leslie Mak won the all-around competition with a score of 39.50, while also sharing the bars and floor title and winning the beam event outright. Mak shared the bars title with OSU's Olivia Vivian, scoring 9.90 each, while sharing the floor title with Makayla Stambaugh, each scoring 9.90. Mak also earned a 9.90 on beam, leading a OSU sweep of the top-six spots on the event. Stambaugh was joined by Kelsi Blalock on vault as event winners, each scoring 9.875.

Oregon State earned team totals of 49.20 on vault, 49.250 on bars, 49.175 on beam and 49.250 on floor.  The Beavers improve to 35-1 over the Broncos all-time and extends to a 14-meeting win streak.
