Gymnastics Posts Sixth Best Score in BSU History to Top Titans

FULLERTON, Calif. -- The No. 21 Boise State gymnastics team proved that they are red hot this season, winning 196.425-194.825 over Cal State University-Fullerton (5-6) on Sunday afternoon. The Broncos (6-1, 5-1 WAC) scored their highest team mark of the season as well as moving into the BSU history books as the No. 6 all-time team score.

Winning all four events as a team, the Broncos moved into the record books on vault as well, scoring a 49.20 to move them to second all-time in the event. The Broncos also posted solid scores of 49.075 on uneven bars, 49.05 on balance beam, and 49.10 on floor exercise.

BSU’s Amy Glass led the way earning two wins on the day in the all-around and on beam. The freshman scored a career high of 39.350 in the all-around, tying her for No. 22 in the BSU all-time charts. She also earned a career high on beam with a 9.875 in the event.

Also picking up wins for the Broncos, freshman Hannah Redmon snagged the vault title tying her career best, while red shirt sophomore Taylor Jacob won the bars with both Broncos notching 9.90, respectively.

Several Broncos finished in the top-3 in their events, including juniors Amber Neroes, Shaniece Craft, and Glass finishing in a four-way tie for second on vault with a 9.85. On bars, Redmon and Glass finished in a tie for second with a score of 9.85. Senior Lindsay Ward captured the second place spot on beam with a 9.85 while freshman Sarah Smith posted a 9.825 to tie for third.

Floor exercise was the sole event the Broncos were not able to capture the top spot, with CSUF’s Alaina Baker winning the event with a 9.90. BSU’s Redmon placed second with a 9.875 while freshman Kelsey Lang finished in a tie for third with a 9.850.

In the all-around competition, Glass captured the first place spot while CSUF’s Baker took second with a 39.250. BSU’s Redmon placed third with a 38.775.

The Broncos will return home for their sixth meet of the season on Friday, February 22 when they host Sacramento State at 7 p.m. in the Taco Bell Arena.
