Jacobsen MRGC Specialist of the Week

LOGAN, Utah – The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference announced their weekly awards on Monday, and Krystine Jacobsen was named the Specialist of the Week for her performance on uneven bars this past weekend at San José State. The senior earned a 9.95 to win the event and help the No. 9 Broncos (7-0) to the 196.275 – 193.700 victory over the Spartans.

The 9.95 led Boise State to their best event of the night, as they ended with a 49.250 on the apparatus. Jacobsen has won the uneven bars title in four of the Broncos' five meets so far this year. Her 9.895 average is tops in both the conference and the west region, along with being No. 6 in the country.

With already four uneven bars titles on the year, the Virginia Beach, Va., native has matched her season total from last year. Her nine career victories on uneven bars puts her in seventh place in the Boise State record book.

The Road To Nationals rankings were also updated today, and Boise State moved up a spot and returned to No. 9 with their 196.210 average, tying their highest ranking in school history. By event, the Broncos are No. 7 on uneven bars (49.180 avg.), No. 14 on vault (48.995 avg.), No. 14 on balance beam (48.920 avg.) and No. 13 on floor (49.115 avg.) in the country.

Individually, Jacobsen (9.895 avg.) is No. 6 on uneven bars, Mary Frances Bir (9.810 avg.) is tied for 66th on vault, Shani Remme (9.825 avg.) is tied for 31st on beam and both Maddie Krentz (9.890 avg.) and Sandra Collantes (9.890 avg.) are tied for 21st on floor.

The No. 9 Broncos will host No. 26 Ohio State on Friday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Taco Bell Arena.
