Broncos Place Second at Chicago Style Invite

CHICAGO - The No. 15-ranked Boise State gymnastics team traveled to Chicago to compete against a tough field at the IGI Chicago Style Invite at Navy Pier Friday night (Feb. 10). The Broncos placed second to No. 7 UCLA, scoring a 196.025, their second-best total of the season. UCLA earned a 196.850 to win the meet, while No. 18 Missouri was third (195.525) and No. 19 Illinois was fourth (195.10).

The Broncos opened the meet on floor earning a 48.90 score as a team, good for second in the team standings. They moved on to vault where they earned a 49.20 score, maintaining their second-place position. On bars they earned a 49.050 and closed out the meet with a 48.875 on beam to remain in second.

Amy Glass led the Broncos in the all-around, placing third with a 39.225 score. Brittany Potvin-Green also competed in the all-around, placing sixth with a 38.375.

Glass led the team in their first rotation, tying for fifth on floor (9.850). Hailey Gaspar and Ciera Perkins tied for 11 th (9.80), while Kelsey Black tied for 15th (9.750).  Caitlin Mann tied for 20th (9.70) and Brittany Potvin-Green placed 24th (8.925) on floor.

On vault, Glass again led the Broncos, tying for second (9.875). Gaspar and Potvin-Green tied for fourth (9.850), while Perkins tied for eighth with a new career-best score of 9.825. Amanda Otuafi tied for 14 th (9.80) and Erica Oswalt placed 16th (9.775).

Morris led the team on bars, tying for third with a career-best of 9.875. Glass tied for fifth earning a season-best of 9.825, while Lindsay Kazandjian and Potvin-Green tied for ninth (9.80). Black and Perkins tied for 15 th with scores of 9.750.

On their final event, Potvin-Green and Kazandjian shared a third-place finish, scoring 9.80 each. Gaspar tied for eighth (9.775), while Alessandra Cinfio and Bekah Gher tied for 14 th (9.750). Glass rounded out the beam line-up in 23rd-place with a 9.675.

Missouri's Mary Burke won the all-around title with a score of 39.375, while also sharing the bars title with UCLA's Olivia Courtney (9.90). Courtney also won on vault (9.925), while teammates Mattie Larson and Alyssa Pritchett won on beam (9.850) and floor (9.90), respectively.

Boise State returns home for their next meet on Friday, February 17, against San Jose State. The meet will be the team's annual "Pink Night" event to promote awareness of breast cancer. The meet begins at 7:00 p.m. (MT) at Taco Bell Arena. Fans are encouraged to wear pink.
