Gymnast Chelsee Apple Garners First Career WAC Specialist of the Week Honor

DENVER - Boise State's Chelsee Apple has been named the Western Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week for the week of Feb. 2-8.


Apple, a freshman from Las Vegas, Nev. (Centennial HS) was Boise State's top finisher on vault for the fourth meet in a row, placing in a tie for third-place overall at the Chicago Style meet. Apple set a new career high of 9.900 to become the 15th Bronco to ever post a 9.900 on vault. The mark also ties her for the 11th spot on the all-time Boise State top vault scores list.


Sacramento State's Marina Borisova was named WAC Gymnast of the Week. Borisova, a senior from Sacramento, Calif. (Encina HS) claimed her fourth all-around title in five meets this season by scoring 38.950 at San Jose State.


Other Gymnast of the Week nominees included: Boise State freshman Lindsay Kazandjian; Cal State Fullerton sophomore Alaina Baker; Southern Utah sophomore Jenna Vogt; and Utah State junior Heather Heinrich.


Other Specialist of the Week nominees included: Cal State Fullerton sophomore Maddie Steinauer; San Jose State sophomore Lily Swann; Southern Utah junior Elise Wheeler; and Utah State sophomore Nicole Simoneau.
