BSU Gymnast Hannah Redmon Earns WAC Gymnast of the Week Honor

DENVER, Colo.  Boise State’s Hannah Redmon has been named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week for the week of Jan. 28-Feb. 3.

 

Redmon, a freshman from Reno, Nev. (Reed HS) won the all-around at Southern Utah’s quadrangular meet on Friday. She registered the top mark in the WAC this season (39.125) in her first attempt at the all-around as a Bronco. She also captured vault title (9.975) and the floor exercise (9.850). Redmon’s all-around mark put her at the No. 27 spot in national rankings for the week of Feb. 4.

 

The WAC weekly honor was the fourth for the Broncos this season. Freshman Amy Glass earned WAC Specialist of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13 while senior Lindsay Ward earned the same honor for the week of Jan. 21-27. Sophomore Taylor Jacob has been the only other Bronco to earn WAC Gymnast of the Week, earning the honor for the week of Jan. 21-27.  

 

Katie Hicks, a junior from Prescott, Ariz. (Prescott HS) earned the WAC Specialist of the Week this week after she finished first overall on the beam in a three-way tie for the top spot in Southern Utah’s quad meet against BYU, Boise State and Cal State Fullerton. The win marks her second consecutive individual title on the apparatus in as many weeks as SUU won the meet with a season-high team score of 194.650.

 

Other Gymnast of the Week nominees included: Sacramento State junior Marina Borisova finished second in the all-around in a triangular meet against San Jose State and Wisconsin-Stout ... San Jose State junior Veronica Porte won the all-around with a season-best mark of 38.875 at the SJSU triangular meet ... Southern Utah junior Kellie Dangerfield scored a career-high 39.025 in the all-around at the SUU quadrangular meet.

 

Other Specialist of the Week nominees included: Boise State sophomore Taylor Jacob won the uneven bars for the second-straight week with a score of 9.875 ... Cal State Fullerton freshman Maddie Steinauer scored a career-high 9.85 on vault to finish in a tie for second at the four-way meet at Southern Utah ... Sacramento State senior Melissa Genovese tied her season high of 9.875 to finish first on the beam in a three-team meet at San Jose State ... San Jose State senior Raylyn Cardeno scored a team-best 9.800 on the vault to finish second at the SJSU triangular meet.
