BSU Gymnasts Sweep Weekly WAC Awards

DENVER, Colo. Boise State’s Taylor Jacob and Lindsay Ward have been named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week and Specialist of the Week, respectively, for the week of Jan. 21-27.

Jacob, a junior from Whittier, Calif. (La Habra HS) scored high in three events against Utah State last week. The sophomore finished in a tie for first on bars with a season-high mark of 9.90. She also scored a 9.850 on balance beam and a 9.750 on floor exercise.

Ward, a senior from Las Vegas, Nev. (Las Vegas HS) tied for first on uneven bars with a season-best mark of 9.90. The 9.90 is the highest mark on bars in the WAC this season. She currently ranks tied for 22nd nationally on the uneven bars with an average of 9.837.

Other Gymnast of the Week nominees included: Cal State Fullerton freshman Alaina Baker won the floor and finished second in the all-around with a score of 38.175 against Utah State ... Felley won the all-around in both meets for the Aggies last week.

Other Specialist of the Week nominees included: Cal State Fullerton freshman Maddie Steinauer scored a 9.825 on vault to finish second in a dual meet with Utah State ... San Jose State senior Raylyn Cardeno won the vault for the second consecutive meet with a season-best 9.825 against Sacramento State ... Southern Utah
freshman Ari Lamb claimed her first collegiate individual title with a 9.875 on the balance beam ... Utah State freshman Jasmine Minion placed third on the vault and second on the floor against Boise State.
