BOISE, Idaho –
The Road to Nationals rankings for the week of Jan. 25-31 have been released, and the Boise State gymnastics team checked in at No. 10, giving them their highest national ranking in school history. With a season-average score of 196.063, the Broncos cracked the top 10 for the first time ever and trail only No. 4 UCLA in the west region.

After earning a season-high 196.425 this past weekend at BYU, Boise State moved up three spots from last week’s No. 13 ranking. The Broncos are the highest ranked team in the Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference, with Southern Utah tied for No. 24 as the second-highest ranked team in the conference.

The program’s highest previous national ranking came on Jan. 13, 2014 when they were No. 11. Last season they were as high as No. 12 on multiple occasions.

The record-setting ranking has come in large part because of the Broncos’ success on floor. The Blue and Orange are tied for No. 7 in the country on the event with a 49.175 average. Individually it has been redshirt sophomore Sandra Collantes leading the charge thanks to her 9.912 that has her tied for No. 7 nationally.

The other three team event rankings have the Broncos No. 11 on uneven bars, No. 13 on vault and No. 18 on beam.

The MRGC also announced their weekly awards for last week’s competition, and Shani Remme was named the co-Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference Gymnasts of the Week.

Remme, a freshman competing in the all-around for the first time in her career, scored a 39.250 to lead Boise State to victories over BYU (195.475) and UC Davis (194.750). Remme scored a 9.800 or higher on three of four events, including a 9.850 on bars, 9.825 on floor and a 9.800 on beam. She rounded out her night with a 9.775 on the vault.

Remme shared the honor with BYU’s Mackenzie Johnson Halliday, both of which shared the all-around title in their meet this past weekend.

Boise State will face BYU for the second-straight weekend on Friday at 7:30 p.m. as a part of the Gem State Invitational. The meet will take place at CenturyLink Arena.
