Broncos Host 10th Annual Beauty & the Beast Meet
The meet is the second this season for the gymnastics team after topping No. 16 Washington last week. The Beauty and the Beast meet is slated for Friday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. in Taco Bell Arena.
About Beauty and the Beast:
The Broncos began their Beauty and the Beast tradition on Feb. 14, 2003, a fitting event for Valentine's Day. Boise State wrestling came away with a 35-9 win over Portland State, while the gymnastics team picked up a 196.375-195.9 win over BYU in front of a crowd of 2,350 fans.
Beauty and the Beast is now in its10th season at Boise State, missing only the 2008 season. In 2009 a Beauty and the Beast meet was held, but the gymnastics team competed in an intrasquad competition rather than against an opponent.
Bronco wrestling holds an 9-1 record in Beauty and the Beast competitions, while the gymnastics program holds a 8-1 record all-time.
The Bronco wrestlers' only loss came to Oregon in 2006 (17-16), while the gymnasts' only loss came to Washington in 2005 (195.0-194.2).Tickets:
