Gymnastics Places Eight in National Event Rankings, Takes Week Off From Competition

BOISE, Idaho -- After a solid opening meet at the Flips Invitational in Reno, Nev., on Fri., Jan. 15, 2010, the Boise State Broncos were rewarded with eight gymnasts making the national top-100 rankings in their respective events.

Overall the Broncos jumped one spot from the preseason coaches' poll to No. 18 this week, while also ranking No. 10 on vault, tying for No. 14 on floor, tying at No. 15 on bars and ranking No. 36 on beam.

Redshirt sophomore Amy Glass earned four individual event rankings after taking a year off from competition due to a season-ending injury in early January 2009. Glass is tied for No. 58 on vault, tied for No. 25 on bars, tied for No. 92 on floor and No. 47 in the all-around. Junior Hannah Redmon holds three rankings, sitting in a tie for No. 4 on both vault and floor, while also tying for No. 30 in the all-around. Freshman Hailey Gaspar had a good start to her career, landing in a tie for No. 58 on vault and tying for No. 57 on beam. Sophomore Lindsay Kazandjian stands strong in a tie for No. 17 on beam, while senior Yvette Leizorek ties for No. 41 on floor. Redshirt junior Katie Tuller and redshirt senior Taylor Jacob are tied for No. 62 on bars while freshman Brittany Potvin-Green is tied for No. 88 on vault.

The Broncos take one weekend away from competition before heading to Logan, Utah to take on Western Athletic Conference opponent Utah State on Fri., Jan. 29, 2010. The meet is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start (Mountain Time).
