#14 Broncos Host #16 Washington in Season Opener

What's Happening:
The No. 14-ranked Boise State gymnastics team opens up the 2012 season with a home dual meet against 16-ranked Washington. The Broncos, who hold the highest preseason ranking in program history, host their first of six home meets on Friday, Jan. 13, with a 7 p.m. start time in Boise State's Taco Bell Arena.

Tickets: 
Tickets can be purchased at the Boise State Taco Bell Arena Box Office the day of the event. Prices are as follows: Adults, $6; Junior/Senior, $4; Students get in free with valid ID. You can also purchase a Bronco Sports Pass for $50, granting access to all regular season home games for volleyball, soccer, wrestling, women's basketball, gymnastics, outdoor track and field and softball.

All-Time Series:
Boise State and Washington meet for the 58th time in series history with the Huskies holding the 41-16 all-time series lead. Washington won the most recent meeting on Jan. 15, 2011, topping the Broncos by only .250 points. The most recent win by the Broncos over the Huskies came on Feb. 15, 2009, when Boise State outscored Washington 195.70 to 194.40.

Boise State "Broncos":
Boise State opens the season four spots ahead of their 2011 preseason ranking, sitting as the 14th-ranked team in the country leading into the 2012 season. The Broncos open up their season at home in their first of six home meets. Their schedule also includes five away meets, including multiple-team competitions at the Chicago Style meet (Feb. 10) and at the Utah State Triangular (Jan. 27). All other meets will be dual meets for the Broncos.

The Broncos return four solid seniors in Chelsee Apple, Cristy Dahlquist, Amy Glass and Lindsay Kazandjian. Four juniors return as well, including Hailey Gaspar, Lacee Lang, Brittany Potvin-Green and Erin Wippermann. Kelsey Black, Alessandra Cinfio, Bekah Gher and Amanda Otuafi make up the returning sophomore class, while the team welcomes four freshmen, Caitlin Mann, Kelsey Morris, Erica Oswalt and Ciera Perkins.

Washington "Huskies":
Washington enters the week ranked 16th in the preseason poll and has one meet under their belts after topping Michigan State 193.175 to 191.825 on Jan. 6. The Huskies (1-0) will face their second straight road opponent in Boise State.

The Huskies opened up their season with a solid score of 48.825 on beam, their best event score against Michigan State. They also scored a 48.70 on vault, 48.575 on bars and a 47.075 on floor.  Amanda Cline led the team on vault (9.850), while Ruby Engreitz led on bars (9.825) and the all-around (39.0). Paige Bixler had the team's highest score on beam (9.825), while McKenzie Fechter had the top score on floor (9.80).

A Look at the Season:
Boise State will face four opponents in its 2012 campaign who sit among the top-25 in the preseason rankings, including the No. 1 team in the nation. The Broncos will face two tough opponents at the Chicago Style meet on Feb. 10 in Chicago, taking on No. 1 UCLA and No. 15 Illinois. They open their season at home on Jan. 13 against No. 16 Washington, as well as facing No. 7 Oregon State on the road on Feb. 24.
