Boise State Ties for Third in WAC Preseason Gymnastics Coaches Poll
DENVER, Colo. -- The Western Athletic Conference announced its 2008 preseason gymnastics coaches’ poll, as voted on by the six head coaches in the league. Southern Utah and Sacramento State were selected as the favorites to win this year’s WAC title, tying for the top spot with 27 points each.

Southern Utah led the poll with three first place votes for its 27 point total. Sacramento State, which tied for the top spot with SUU, garnered one first place vote with 27 points. Boise State and Utah State tied for the third spot with each receiving one first place vote and 23 points. Cal State Fullerton captured fifth place with 14 points and San Jose State was picked sixth with 12 points.

The 2008 Western Athletic Conference gymnastics championship will take place at the Taco Bell Arena in Boise, Idaho on Saturday, March 29.

Entering their third season in the WAC, the Broncos hold second and sixth place finishes from 2006 and 2007, respectively. The Broncos will rely heavily on a handful of returnees as well as a solid freshmen class. BSU’s 2007-08 freshmen class recently earned the No. 9 spot of the nation's Top-10 recruiting classes by The 2007-08 recruiting class was ranked alongside top programs such as Utah, Michigan, and UCLA.

The Broncos begin their 2008 season on Friday, January 11 when they take on WAC opponent Utah State at 7 p.m. at the Taco Bell Arena.
