Broncos Sweep Titles at Utah State

LOGAN, Utah - The No. 23 Boise State gymnastics team closed out its 2013 regular season slate with a 195.300-194.125 win over Utah State Friday evening at Utah State's Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The Broncos (12-3, 4-2 WAC) outscored the Aggies (3-11, 0-7 WAC) as a team on all four events, while also sweeping all five individual titles on the night.

Sophomores Ciera Perkins and Caitlin Mann led the Broncos, picking up two individual titles apiece, while senior Brittany Potvin-Green and juniors Kelsey Black and Amanda Otuafi earned one title apiece, including shared titles.

Perkins earned the first two wins of the night collecting the vault title with a 9.90 score for her second win of the season and third of her career on the event. She earned her second uneven bars title of the season, as well as her fourth-career win, with a score of 9.875.

Mann earned a career-high score of 39.325 to win her fourth all-around title of the season. Her win moves her to a tie for seventh in Boise State season all-around wins. Mann also tied her career-best of 9.90 to share the floor exercise title with teammates Otuafi and Black. The title was the first of the season for Mann, third for Otuafi and fourth for Black. Black's fourth title on floor this season moves her to a tie for 10th in Boise State season floor wins.

Potvin-Green earned the final title of the evening for the Broncos, winning her second balance beam title of the season and her career with a 9.875 score.

Joining Perkins in combining for a 49.175 team score on vault was Black, who tied for second (9.875), and Maddie Krentz, who placed fifth with a career-best 9.850. Mann and Potvin-Green tied for seventh with 9.775 score, while Otuafi earned an 8.850 to place 12th.

Perkins led the Broncos' 49.100 team performance on bars followed by Erin Wippermann in second (9.850) and Mann and Kelsey Morris tying for third (9.825) for a top-three sweep. Krentz and Black tied for seventh with 9.725 scores.

The Broncos 47.700 performance on beam was led by Potvin-Green, while Mann was second with a 9.825 score. Black tied for fourth with a career-best score of 9.70, while Otuafi placed eighth (9.30), Morris placed ninth (9.00) and Krystine Jacobsen placed 11th (8.70).

Boise State dominated on floor earning a 49.325 score and capturing four of the top-five spots. Mann, Black and Otuafi shared the event title, leading Potvin-Green to a fifth-place finish (9.850). Morris tied for seventh (9.775) and Krentz placed 12th (9.625) to round out the lineup.

Black joined Mann in the all-around competition earning a career-best 39.20 score to place third. USU's Sarah Landes placed second in the all-around competition with a 39.225, while Paige Jones earned a 39.10 to place 10th.

Boise State ended its 2013 regular season schedule Friday evening. The team now prepares for the Western Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah, on Sat., March 23.
