Stellar Night Lifts Broncos over Cougars

BOISE, Idaho-The No. 15 Boise State gymnastics team downed conference opponent BYU, 196.275-194.750 on Friday night at the annual Pink Meet. Five Bronco gymnasts recorded scores of 9.90 or higher, helping Boise State to its third-best score of the year.

The Broncos posted a 49.375 on vault, their highest score of the season and tied for fourth-best all time on the apparatus. Mary Frances Bir (9.775) started off the night and Sandra Collantes (9.80) tied her career best. Freshman Ann Stockwell shattered her season and career best, scoring a 9.925. Senior co-captain Kelsey Morris followed suit, tying her career best with a 9.925 of her own. Senior co-captain Ciera Perkins anchored the event, marking a 9.950.

Boise State put together a complete lineup on floor exercise, where five gymnasts scored a 9.80 or higher and every scoring gymnast set their career highs. The Broncos would score a 49.275 for their best score this season. Paige Urquhart and Lianne Josbacher recorded their season and career bests, marking a 9.80 and a 9.825, respectively. Krystine Jacobsen recorded a 9.850 to better her career best by point and a quarter. Sandra Collantes also bested her career high, scoring a 9.875, and Morris recorded a 9.925 for her best. Morris would go on to score 39.475 in the all around for her season best.

On the uneven bars, the Broncos recorded a 49.150. Mackenzie Bennion led off on the uneven bars with a solid 9.80. Morris recorded a 9.80 of her own, and Krystine Jacobsen and Ciera Perkins would close out the rotation with respective scores of 9.875 and 9.90. Perkins now has 13 uneven bars wins to her career, which ties for second all time in Boise State history.

Junior Krystine Jacobsen paced the Broncos on beam with her 9.875. She would go on to win the event for her third event win of the season and fifth of her career. Josbacher and Morris would record a pair of 9.825s, while Paige Urquhart marked a 9.80. Boise State posted a 48.475 on beam in the third rotation.

The Broncos will host their final home meet of the season, welcoming Alaska Anchorage to Taco Bell Arena on March 6 at 7 p.m. Boise State will recognize its seniors, Ciera Perkins and Kelsey Morris, in their final home meet.
