Bird Signs Four to NLIs
BOISE – Boise State women’s golf head coach Nicole Bird signed four golfers to National Letters of Intent, Friday. Genevieve Ling (Malaysia) will join the team in January, and Dana Clary (Cedar Park, Texas), Haliee Pieper (Watertown, S.D.) and Jamie Donizio (Henderson, Nev.) will join the Broncos for the 2013-14 season.

“I am very excited for the class of 2013 to come in,” Bird said. “They have some big shoes to fill with the seniors who are leaving but I know they are up for the challenge. Each of the signees is on the rise and they still have their best golf ahead of them.

“Not only are they all outstanding golfers, they are extremely strong academically. I am looking forward to their arrival, and to help them continue to build a highly-successful program.”

Ling captured the Selangor International Junior Masters this past summer, and competed in the second stage of the Malaysian National Team trials. At the Malaysian Junior Open and the Royal Selangor Junior Open – both international competitions – Ling finished second and third, respectively, in the under-18 division. She also finished runner-up at the Malaysian national high school meet, and fourth at the international Royal Selangor Ladies National Open.

A two-time champion on the Texas Junior Golf Tour, Clary has been a Texas all-state selection and has been selected to the all-district team three times. She has finished in the top eight in every high school competition in which she has competed, and has 14 top-five finishes on the TJGT. Clary is a three-time academic all-district honoree, and was her high school’s most valuable player each of the last two seasons.

Pieper has earned all-conference and all-state honors in each of her three prep campaigns, and was the 2011 South Dakota Golf Association Player of the Year. She has garnered medalist honors in more than 20 local, state and high school events, and was the 2011 Junior State Champion. The three-time academic all-state honoree participated in both the 2012 North-South Championship and the 2012 US Junior Girls.

Donizio finished third at the Nevada State Junior Championship, and finished fifth at the state high school tournament. She has captured medalist honors at the American Junior Golf Association Preseason Junior Championship, the BH-Canyon Gate/Arroyo and the Las Vegas Golf Combine. Donizio also qualified for the Girls’ Junior Americas Cup.
