Broncos Set to Compete in Final Fall Tournament

What’s Happening - The Boise State University women’s golf team will travel Richmond, Calif., to compete in its final tournament of the fall, the USF/Richmond Country Club Invitational, Nov. 5-6.

 

The 54-hole tournament will be held on the par 71, 5,963-yard Richmond Country Club beginning Monday, Nov. 5.

 

The Field - The nine-team field will feature four teams ranked in the top-50, according to GolfWeek.com. The field will feature Boise State, Campbell, No. 45 Oregon, No. 49 San Francisco, No. 38 Texas Tech, Toledo, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UNLV.

 

The Broncos - This is the final five fall tournaments for Boise State. The Broncos posted a 922 (+58) to finish in sixth place at the Giustina Memorial Classic, a 918 (+54) to finish tied for 11th in the 20-team field at the Heather Farr Memorial Classic. Boise State’s best finish came at the Bronco Fall Invitational when they shot a 989 (+125) for fourth place. In their last tournament, the Kent Youel Classic, the Broncos registered 955 (+91) and finished in 16th place.

 

The Players - The Broncos will field the same team for the third consecutive tournament.

 

The five players competing for the Boise State team will be Mandi Hedberg, Minhee Park, Nikki Olson, Lindsey Shean, and Iris Ocariza.

 

Senior Nikki Olson has collected two seventh place finishes this season to match her career-best finish. She posted an 8-over 224 at the Giustina Memorial Classic and a 241 (+25) at the Bronco Fall Invitational. Olson is averaging 77.3 strokes per round with a low round of 73 (+1).

 

Mandi Hedberg has earned two top 25 finishes in three fall tournaments. She recorded a 231 (+15) to tie for 24th at the Giustina Memorial Classic and a 249 (+33) at the Bronco Fall Invitational to finish tied for 21st place. Mandi Hedberg is averaging 79.1 strokes per round in four fall tournaments including a low round of 73 (+1).

 

Lindsey Shean has collected two top 25 finishes in four fall tournaments. She led the Broncos in scoring at the Heather Farr Memorial Tournament with a 9-over 225 to finish tied for 24th place. Shean then posted a 247 (+31) in the Bronco Fall Invitational for a career-best 18th place finish. She is averaging 79.1 strokes per round and posted a season-low 73 (+1) in the second and third rounds of the Heather Farr Memorial.

 

Iris Ocariza has one top 25 finish this season as she finished tied for 20th at the Giustina Memorial Classic with a 14-over 230. Ocariza is averaging 79.3 strokes per round in the fall with a low-round score of 75 (+3).

 

Minhee Park will be playing in her third tournament of the 2007-08 season. She finished tied for 54th place at the Bronco Fall Invitational with a 266 (+50) and tied for 85th at the Kent Youel Classic. She is averaging 85.8 strokes per round with a career-low 80 (+8) in the third round of the Kent Youel Classic.
