Bronco Women Post Successful Final Round
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The Boise State women’s golf team continued its improvement throughout the Price’s “Give ‘Em Five” Intercollegiate, posting its best score of the tournament in the final round, Wednesday.

The Broncos’ third-round 295 (+7) was tied for the fourth-lowest of the final day in the 15-team tournament field, and moved the team ahead one more position into 12th place. Boise State finished with a three-round total of 914 (+50) at the par-72, 6,258-yard New Mexico State University Golf Course.

"We played great today," head coach Nicole Harris Bird said. "We have some work to do on how we start because our first round really put us behind the 8-ball. But we learned a lot about attitude and were able to come back with some really solid rounds to make up ground. With one tournament left this fall, our goal is to play well for 54 holes as a team. We are going to finish strong!"

Leading the way for the Broncos were juniors Hayley Young and Lori Harper, who posted final-round scores of 71 (-1) and 72 (E), respectively. For both Young and Harper, the final-round totals were the lowest single-round scores of the season, and tied career lows.

The duo finished tied for 27th with three-round totals of 224 (+8), just one stroke back of the top 25.

Rounding out the scoring for Boise State were sophomore Jenna Leurquin (233, +17), senior Katie Somers (239, +23) and senior Maria Santisteban (241, +25).

The Broncos will try to carry their final-round successes into their next tournament, the Memphis Fall Invitational, Oct. 24-25.
