Young Tied for 18th at Price's Give`Em Five Collegiate, Broncos in 12th...

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (10/12/2010) - Hayley Young shot a 2-over 74 to lead Boise State’s women’s golf team during the second day of the Price’s Give`Em Five Collegiate Tuesday afternoon in Las Cruces, N.M., she is tied for 18th-place with one round to go.  The Broncos as a team slipped a bit on Tuesday and are currently in 12th-place with a total of 35-over 611.

The host school New Mexico State University rallied from four down after yesterday’s opening session to move into a tie with Baylor University for first in the team standings at 4-over 580. Boise State tallied a 22-over 310 this afternoon to drop from ninth -place to 12th out of 14 teams at the event. The Broncos will open the final round on Wednesday nine strokes out of eighth-place and 31 out of first.

On the individual side of the tournament, Baylor’s Jaclyn Jansen maintained her position at the top of the leaderboard after firing a 3-over 75 on today’s 18 holes for a two-day total of 4-under 140. However, her lead over second place has been cut from four to two strokes, a trio is tied at 2-under 142.

Young has been consistent over the first two rounds of the tournament carding back-to-back 2-over 74s to stay tied for 18th-place with four other individuals.  Following Young are Michelle Gooding and Jenna Leurquin who are in a five-way tie for 44th at 9-over 153. Gooding finished today’s session at 4-over 76, while Leurquin recorded a 7-over 79.

Rounding out today’s action for Boise State were Lori Harper and Katie Somers who both shot 9-over 81s this afternoon. Harper is currently fourth on the Bronco roster with a 13-over 157 followed by Somers at 16-over 160.

The final round of the Price’s Give`Em Five Collegiate will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, morning beginning at 8:00 a.m by tee times at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.
