► What’s Happening
Boise State University’s women’s golf team is off to Las Cruces, N.M., for the Price’s Give`Em Five Collegiate this coming Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 11-13. This 14-team tournament is being hosted by Western Athletic Conference member New Mexico State University at the university owned golf course. This is the fourth of six fall competitions for the Broncos. 

► What’s Happened Recently
Last time out Boise State placed 8th out of 15 teams at the Rose City Collegiate in Aurora, Ore. The Broncos turned in their best overall round of the year on the final day carding a 297 (+9). The blue and orange finished with a 59-over 923 jumping past three teams on the final day. Leading the way for Boise State were Hayley Young with a career performance firing a total of 222 (+6) to tie for seventh-place and Michelle Gooding, who also had a career outing, finishing at 232 (+16) to tie for 29th. 
► Broncos at The Price’s Give`Em Five Collegiate
This year marks the 11th anniversary of this event. Boise State participated in the Price’s Give`Em Five last year placing 16th out of 18 squads. The Broncos were led by then-seniors Iris Ocariza and Minhee Park who shot 228 (+12) and 237 (+21) respectively. Lori Harper (241, +25) and Michelle Gooding (242, +26) are the only two returners from last year’s tournament roster who are competing there this year.

► The Tournament Format
The Price’s Give`Em Five Collegiate will feature the typical five-person squads with the top-four scores per round counting towards the team tally. The competition format for this tournament calls for three rounds of stroke play, staged over three days. The first round will be staged on Monday followed by the second on Tuesday and the final session on Wednesday. The first two rounds are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. (Mountain) with Wednesday’s final session to tee off at 8:00 a.m., all three will begin by shotgun starts. 

► The Host Course
New Mexico State University Golf Course will serve as the host course for this event. It will feature a competition course of 6,258 yards for a par-72. The course is located across the freeway from the main university campus in Las Cruces.    

► The Price’s Give`Em Five Collegiate Field
The field for this tournament will consist of 14 NCAA Division I programs. Representing the Western Athletic Conference will be Boise State (121), Hawai’i (118) and host New Mexico State (78). The other 11 schools include: Baylor (35),  Cal-State Northridge (86), Central Arkansas (146), Cincinnati (102), Kansas State (57), Mississippi State (136), Northern Arizona (89), North Texas (47), Seattle, UC-Irvine (82), UTEP (124), note numbers in (#) equal Oct. 3 Golfweek ranking.
In all there will be over 70 individuals competing for the team and individual titles at this competition.

► Boise State’s Tournament Roster
Boise State will use the same lineup as it did at the Rose City Collegiate Sept. 27-28. It is an experienced squad and features two juniors, two sophomores and one freshman.

Team Roster
No. 1 Position: Hayley Young - The sophomore has led Boise State at all three competitions heading into this tournament. Young has recorded two career performances this year with a 11-over 227 at the Circling Raven Collegiate Sept. 13-14, then followed that with a 6-over 222 at Rose City Collegiate to place tied for seventh last time out.  She is averaging a team and career-best 74.9 strokes per round (spr) this season.  

No. 2 Position: Michelle Gooding -
Junior Michelle Gooding will start at the second position for the Broncos. She has also had two career-best performances to open the year firing a 20-over 236 at the Circling Raven Collegiate and a 16-over 232 last time out at the Rose City Collegiate, Sept. 27-28. So far this season she is averaging 77.7 spr.

No. 3 Position: Lori Harper - The third position for this event goes to Lori Harper. The sophomore from Manhattan Beach, Calif., played in the Circling Raven Collegiate Sept. 13-14 tallying a 23-over 239, followed by a 243 (+27) at Rose City. Through seven rounds played she is averaging 79.7 spr this year.

No. 4 Position: Katie Somers -
The fourth team spot goes to junior Katie Somers competing in her second full tournament of the year. She fired a 237 (+21) at Rose City in her only other 54-hole competition of the fall.

No. 5 Position: Jenna Leurquin - The true-freshman from Brussels, Belgium, will get the nod at the fifth slot on the roster. She recorded a 25-over at the Circling Raven Collegiate in her first Bronco tournament, followed by season-best 234 (+18) at Rose City last time out. On the year Leurquin is averaging 78.7 spr.
