What’s Happening - The Boise State University women’s golf team will host its only home tournament of the year, the Bronco Fall Classic, Oct. 8-9, at the 6,193-yard, par 72 Falcon Crest Golf Club in Kuna, Idaho.

 

The 54-hole tournament will tee off Monday, Oct. 8, with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. (weather permitting). The final 18 holes will be played Tuesday, Oct. 9, with shotgun tee times set for 8:00 a.m.

 

The Field - The 13-team field will feature teams from six conferences; the Western Athletic Conference, Mountain West, Big Sky, Big 12, West Coast, and the Summit League. The team competing in the tournament include host Boise State, BYU, Idaho State, Kansas State, Montana, Montana State, Nebraska, Portland, Portland State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, Southern Utah, Weber State, and Wyoming.

 

The Team - This is the third of five fall tournaments for Boise State. The Broncos posted a 922 (+58) to finish in sixth place at the Giustina Memorial Classic. At the Heather Farr Memorial Classic, Boise State recorded a 918 (+54) to finish tied for 11th in the 20-team field.

 

The Players - The Broncos will field a team of five along with two members who will be competing as independents.

 

The five players competing for the Boise State team will be Mandi Hedberg, Minhee Park, Nikki Olson, Lindsey Shean, and Iris Ocariza. Amanda Nave and Jana Mosesson will be competing for the individual title as independents.

 

Senior Nikki Olson recorded her career best finish at the Giustina Memorial classic when she posted a 224 (+8) to finish tied for seventh place and collect the first top 25 finish of her career. Olson is averaging 75.8 strokes per round this season including a low round of 73 (+1).

 

Senior Amanda Nave played in the Heather Farr Memorial Classic and shot a 258 (+42).

 

Senior Jana Mosesson played in the Giustina Memorial Classic and posted a 257 (+41).

 

Mandi Hedberg is averaging 77.3 strokes per round in two fall tournaments including a low round of 73 (+1). She recorded a tie for 24th at the Giustina Memorial Classic with a 231 (+15), the sixth top 25 finish of her career.

 

Lindsey Shean led the Broncos in scoring at the Heather Farr Memorial Tournament with a 9-over 225. She is averaging 77.0 strokes per round and posted a season-low 73 (+1) in the second and third rounds of the Heather Farr Memorial.

 

Iris Ocariza has finished second on the team in scoring both tournaments. She posted a 230 (+14) in the Giustina Memorial Classic to finish tied for 20th place. This season Ocariza is averaging 76.5 strokes per round and a low round of 75 (+3).

 

Minhee Park will be playing in her first tournament of the 2007-08 season.
