Broncos Fire Season Lows During Final Round of Heather Farr/CU Classic

BROOMFIELD, Colo. It was a record day for the Boise State women’s golf team as it fired both a season-low single round score of 296, notching a season-low three-round total of 896 (+32) at the 2008 Heather Farr/CU Classic held at the par-72, 6,211-yard Vista/Sunshine golf course, Tuesday.

Leading the way for the Broncos was junior Iris Ocariza who fired an impressive 69 (-3) during the final round of competition to not only tie her career-low, but moved her up 18 spots on the charts to finish the tournament knotted in a tie at 24th. This marks Ocariza’s third consecutive top-25 finish and the 12th of her career.  Also fighting her way up the charts was senior Mandi Hedberg who also fired a a season-best 70 (-2), tying her career-best to record her first top-25 finish of the season and 11th of her career.

As  team, Boise State tallied a season-best single-round score of 296 (+12) during the final round of the classic, bringing its three-round total to an incredible 896 (+32). The Broncos concluded the tournament tied with Gonzaga with an 11th place finish, while beating out rival Idaho by eight strokes.

Junior Lindsey Shean carded a 75 (+3) during the final round of play to finish the tournament in a tie for 47th, while teammate Noelle Zavaleta shot an 82 (+10) to complete the two-day tournament tied for 59th. Rounding out the contingent for the Broncos was freshman Katie Somers who fired a season-low 82 (+10).
