Broncos Fire Season-Low Score During First the Round of 2008 Heather Farr/CU Classic

BROOMFIELD, Colo. The Boise State women’s golf team fired a season-low team score of 298, with freshman Noelle Zavaleta leading the way for the Broncos with a career-low 2-under par (70) during the opening round of the 2008 Heather Farr/CU Classic held at the par-72, 6,211-yard Vista/Sunshine golf course, Monday.

After firing a team low 70 during the opening round, the freshman hailing from Lakewood, Calif., notched a 78 during the second round to finish the day with a 148 (+4) and sits in a tie for 27th. Teammate Mandi Hedberg shot season-low 74 during the second round to card a 36-hole total of 150 (+6) and is currently knotted in tie for 37th.

As a team, the Broncos fired a two-round score of 600 (+24) and sits in a tie with Wyoming  in 11th. Boise State is one shot shy of breaking into the top 10, currently held by Notre Dame.

Also competing for Boise State was junior Iris Ocariza, who fired a two round score of 151 (+7) and is currently tied with teammate Lindsey Shean for 42nd. Rounding out the contingent of Broncos is freshman Katie Somers who is currently in 102nd after firing a two-round score of 167 (+23).
